Sudden Death Syndrome is an umbrella term for the many different causes of cardiac arrest in young people. The charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) estimates that at least 600 people 35 and under (12 a Week) die in the UK each year as a result of SDS. 80% of young people that die from SDS show no symptoms at all. For these the only chance of finding if they carry one of these potentially fatal conditions is by being screened. For more information on CRY and conditions that can cause sudden cardiac death in apparently fit and healthy young people go to www.c-r-y.org.uk
